Job Description: 

The Youth Treatment Specialist is responsible for the creating and sustaining a therapeutic milieu that includes facilitating group and individual treatment programs and providing daily supervision and care of clients living in the residential cottage.  This position entails working collaboratively with other Youth Treatment Specialists to maintain a safe, consistent, and structured environment that fosters resiliency, fun, and healing. This position also works closely with the clinical team and youth treatment teams to provide individualized support for social, emotional and behavioral growth to each youth. Tennyson Center utilizes trauma-informed frameworks as the treatment model; these required TCI/ARC trainings will be provided to selected applicants.

 

Areas of Responsibility
  • Implement treatment plans in an appropriate manner as directed by the clinician and supervisors. 
  • Provide clean, safe and therapeutic environments by providing one on one support, small group cooperative play opportunities, and maintenance of youth engagement in social emotional learning.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of the emotional needs of the children at all times.
  • Implement TCC procedures for behavior management (both verbal and non-verbal) and physical management, balancing client’s needs for structure, nurturing, learning and recreation.
  • Assist with milieu management strategies implemented with the collaboration of the educational, clinical, and student engagement specialists. Ensure positive behavior supports are being implemented on a milieu and individual level of all youth.

 

Requirements/Qualifications
  • Preferred: B.A. in Human Services or related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted for a BA
  • Experience preferred with special needs population
  • All candidates must have, or qualify to obtain a valid driver license. (Must obtain within 30 days of employment)
  • Must be certified in medication administration (training provided) within 6 months of employment
  • All positions require criminal CBI background check, FBI fingerprint check, State of CO child abuse check, DMV driving record check, pre-employment drug test, pre-employment physical, academic credential verification, and reference check
Compensation/Benefits

Starting hourly rate at $16.00
