Keynote Luncheon
The Art of Audacious Community Building
Jamie Van Leeuwen, CEO & Founder, Global Livingston Institute
Colorado is known for its incredible entrepreneurial spirit and has traditionally been a hotbed for wildly successful ideas that have transformed the way we think about the world from outdoor recreation to craft brew. As we are rebuilding from the aftermath of COVID we should also be known for our community building. We have one of the most robust and engaged nonprofit communities in the country. And we have plenty of opportunities to practice in solving some of our most complex social issues. Affordable housing. Homelessness. Immigration. And access to health care.
How we rebuild matters and if we are going to truly transform our communities in Colorado, we will need to be collaborative. And we will need to be fiercely audacious. Our nonprofits need to establish Bold as the new business as usual with the understanding that we are going to work together to relentlessly, tenaciously, strategically, intentionally, unabashedly pursue the resources and support we need from the public sector and private sectors to impact positive change.
About our Keynote Speaker
Jamie Van Leeuwen founded the Global Livingston Institute in 2009 to encourage students and community leaders to think bigger and think differently about international development. He currently serves as the GLI’s Chief Executive Officer. Jamie has been traveling to East Africa for more than a decade and continues to develop innovative partnerships between GLI and members of the public, private and nonprofit sectors in Uganda. In addition to his role as GLI’s CEO, Jamie serves as the Director of Youth & Community Engagement with the Emerson Collective focused on building and leveraging relationships across sectors that impact social justice issues specific to education, conservation, immigration, health care, and youth development. Prior to this role Jamie served both Mayor and Governor John Hickenlooper for 14 years as a public sector leader in Colorado.
