JOB SUMMARY: The Camp Nurse provides services primarily for our Adventure Camp program. Duties include checking in camper medications on the first day of camp with counselors and other staff, dispensing oral and injected medications to campers morning and evening, providing appropriate medical treatment for children or adults as needed and managing all medical and first aid supplies. The Camp Nurse will provide training in Universal Precautions for counselors and volunteers during orientation before campers arrive on the first day.
The position includes tracking and maintaining incident reports and communicating information to either the Executive Director or the Adventure Camp Manager as well as to the appropriate authorities/organizations. The camp runs on a weekly basis and each week is run from Sunday at 10:00 AM through Friday at 12:00 PM. The Camp Nurse should relate well to adults and children of all ages. The nurse should have experience with children of diverse populations, particularly populations including children and adults with developmental disabilities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: The Camp Nurse must:
● be 21 years of age, licensed, and currently registered, or have reciprocity, to practice in the state of Colorado
● Preference will be given to nurses who have field experience with diverse populations, particularly including populations with developmental disabilities.
● have current CPR and first aid certifications
● The Camp Nurse is responsible for providing basic health assessments and First Aid treatments to campers with special needs and our staff.
● Medication Administration to Adams Camp Campers
● be able to lift 35 lbs. and walk 1 mile over uneven terrain possibly multiple times a day
● Pediatric nurse experience and a working knowledge of communicable disease transmission required
● Current CPR and First Aid certification are also mandatory.
