Job Title: Thrift Store Coordinator
Job Location: Golden Pantry and Thrift Store, 1401 Ford St., Golden. CO 80401
Status & Classification: Regular | Part-Time | Non-Exempt
Pay Rate: $18-$23/hour (depending on experience)
Work Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m. This position is required to work Saturdays and must accommodate a flexible work schedule
including some weekdays, holidays, evenings, and occasional special events.
Organization Overview: Golden Pantry and Thrift is a non-profit organization that provides a sustainable food pantry and financial assistance to our community in crisis and/or experiencing hardship. We strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all who seek our services.
Summary: The Thrift Store Coordinator will play a key role in the daily operations of the thrift store, ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers and clients. This role requires a friendly and customer-focused individual who can handle various tasks, including sorting and pricing merchandise, customer service, operating the cash register, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. A key component of the role includes the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of thrift store volunteers to enhance store operations and community engagement. This position is currently part-time with the potential to become full-time.

- Open and close the store, ensuring readiness for customers and maintaining clean, safe, and attractive displays.
- Answer questions and provide information about store policies, merchandise, and promotions.
- Oversee daily cash handling, point-of-sale systems, and reconciliation procedures.
- Manage inventory donations, including intake, sorting, pricing, and merchandising.
- Monitor store performance, track sales, and implement strategies to increase revenue.
- Ensure the quality and condition of items are suitable for sale.
- Create attractive and organized displays to enhance the shopping experience and maximize sales.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise thrift store volunteers.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating environment for volunteers of all ages and backgrounds.
- Provide ongoing coaching, recognition, and feedback to volunteers.
- Collaborate with the Pantry Manager to assist clients in accessing clothing and essential items during times of need, ensuring compassionate and timely support.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and communicate regularly with the Executive Director.
- Ensure all customers and donors receive excellent, respectful service.
- Resolve customer inquiries and issues professionally and in alignment with the organization’s values.
- Share the organization’s mission and programs with the public to build awareness and support.
- Represent the store and organization at community events when needed.
- Report to the Executive Director and collaborate closely with leadership on store strategy, goals, and performance.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and contribute ideas for improvement and growth.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous retail or customer service experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Basic math skills and ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
- Ability to lift and carry 40+ pounds and perform physical tasks associated with stocking and moving merchandise.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including holidays.
- Experience in a thrift store or second-hand retail environment perferred
- Passion for community service and sustainability.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
