Job Overview
The Public Affairs Coordinator will play a key role in amplifying and supporting Great
Education Colorado’s policy, advocacy, and communications initiatives. The ideal candidate
is passionate about educational equity, highly organized, and thrives in fast-paced,
collaborative environments. This role works across multiple campaigns and coalitions,
helping to build local capacity and deliver strategic communications to mobilize public
support for fully and fairly funded, welcoming public schools.

Key Responsibilities
● Advocacy Coordination:
– Build and support local advocacy teams across the state
– Organize and execute Advocacy Day
– Coordinate use of online advocacy tools to mobilize supporters
● Coalition and Campaign Support:
– Staff and support the Great Schools, Thriving Communities Coalition
(GSTC)
– Coordinate the Get it Done campaign and related initiatives
– Support The Every Student Welcome Network team as needed
● Communication and Content Creation:
– Write and deliver compelling written and oral communications to diverse
audiences
– Manage and deliver presentations for online and in-person events
– Produce and manage action alerts (EveryAction), newsletters, and website
content in collaboration with the communications team
● Tool and Platform Management:
– Use online platforms like EveryAction and Empower to support organizing
and communication
– Maintain and update advocacy and communications materials
● Cross-Functional Support:
– Provide general support to the Great Ed team and participate in collaborative
planning

Required Qualifications
● Proficiency with CRMs (EveryAction preferred) and expertise using tech tools to
organize outreach and communicate with external partners and Great Ed advocates
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Strong proofreading skills
● Commitment to educational equity and anti-racist practices
● Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-moving
environment
● Proficiency with Google Workspace and Project Management tools (We use Asana)
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience in education, legislative processes and/or fiscal policy
● Bilingual or multilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply
● Experience with organizing, policy, advocacy, communications, and/or public affairs
(1–3 years preferred)
