Job Summary:
The Historic Elitch Theatre is an all-volunteer organization, but we are looking to hire a contract employee to manage our summer events. The Program Coordinator will help organize and manage these events with the board members.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all summer events — Most events are Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons, but the schedule varies. Manager will oversee the event will be the primary contact to deal with any issues. (For major events a board member will co-manage the event.)
- Event manager will staff — and/or supervise — ticketing, check-in, concessions, and merchandise, at events.
- Assist with all summer planning and prep, including distributing marketing materials and working with event sponsors.
- Manager will do some outreach work (i.e., staff outreach tables at events) and will also interact with sponsors (i.e., deliver marketing materials to sponsors.)
- In addition to working on specific events, the coordinator may need to provide some administrative support for the organization.
- Plus, other tasks as needed!
Competencies:
- Must be outgoing and enthusiastic! We need a “go-getter” to really jump in when help is needed.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills! You will be the main contact for our summer volunteers — we need someone who works well with people.
- Organizational skills!
- Self-sufficient and self-motivated. We need someone who can take on a task and make it happen with very little oversight.
Experience and/or Education Needed:
- No specific experience or education required, but past supervisory and management experience will be helpful.
- Recruitment Skills: If you have experience in recruiting volunteers, that would be a great bonus (but not necessary.)
- Supervisory Skills: Again, this is not required, but please let us know if you have experience supervising others.
Schedule/Commitment:
- Candidate must be able to work at least 90% of the summer events. If a substitution is needed for one or two events, we can discuss options, but ideally candidates should be able to attend all dates.
