Mi Casa Resource Center is seeking an individual with excellent attention to detail, willingness to learn and experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping or audit to join as our Accounting Specialist. This is a part time (32 hours per week) benefit eligible position with the option to work one day remotely after completing 90 days at the organization.  

The Accounting Specialist is a key member of the accounting/finance team. This position is responsible for receiving, organizing, and processing various accounting transactions. This may include transactions related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, contracts, and general accounting activity.   

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations  

  • Accurately processes a wide variety of accounting transactions. 
  • Manages the accounts payable and expense management system. 
  • Processes and pays all invoices in an accurate and timely manner. 
  • Supports other team members by compiling and tracking benefit expenses. 
  • Manages and reconciles all corporate credit card accounts monthly. 
  • Communicates professionally with internal (staff members) and external (vendors, participants) parties regarding various financial transactions and situations. 
  • Maintains accounting records and supporting documents for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting transactions.  
  • Facilitates the financial component of organization events (selling tickets, invoicing sponsors, Grantors, etc.)  
  • Assists the Director of Finance in audit preparation and execution. 

Independent Judgement

  • Relies on knowledge and training to make decisions related to assigned tasks. 

Compliance

  • Monitors financial aspects and knowledge of assigned grants received. 
  • Maintains knowledge of rules, regulations, and procedures. 
  • Understanding of Mi Casa Resource Center financial operations. 

Other  

  • Contributes to organizational team effort by attending meetings and collaborating on Finance operations.   
  • Performs related duties as assigned within their scope of practice. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 years of experience in finance, accounting, auditing, or bookkeeping or an equivalent combination of education and experience.   
  • High school diploma/GED is required.  
  • An associate degree or relevant certifications in accounting, finance, or related field preferred. 
  • Knowledge of Abila MIP and/or AvidXchange software a plus. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office products. 
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • A background check is required, along with a valid driver’s license, good motor vehicle record, and valid auto insurance.

  • For this part time role, the hybrid schedule includes one day remote and three days in the office upon completing 90 days of employment. However, as a direct service organization, it is important that we offer face-to-face services for the community we serve.
