Palmer Land Trust seeks a Community Engagement and Philanthropy Manager to implement our new community engagement strategy and manage community and donor relationships. Reporting to Palmer’s Executive Director, and working under Palmer’s interim communications and fundraising director, the manager will be on the front lines of building a new and robust community engagement program focused on rallying the community around land and water conservation. With nearly 136,000 acres under permanent conservation, Palmer Land Trust is one of the leading nonprofit land conservation organizations in Colorado, and is one of the twenty largest local land trusts in the nation. This is an exciting and unique position to mobilize people around an important cause central to our health and quality of life in Colorado.
The primary focus of the position is twofold: 1) mobilizing and activating key audiences in target areas including Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Fremont Counties, and 2) managing relationships with prospective and existing donors to Palmer Land Trust. Using strategic communication strategies, a variety of events, and exemplary donor stewardship practices, this position will be Palmer’s key people and community connector. This position will help to bring the message of land and water conservation into the forefront of our region’s priorities through activities on the land, conveying stories of the importance of conservation and nature, and building deep relationships with donors to the organization.
This position requires an outgoing individual who is interested in engaging the people and communities we serve, with a vision for building more community involvement for Palmer Land Trust. As one of the “best kept secrets” in southern Colorado, we want Palmer Land Trust to become a household name and this position is critical to that success! The selected individual will have excellent writing and storytelling skills, a warm and engaging demeanor, and most importantly, will have a passion for nature, farming and ranching, and outdoor recreation in the West.
Palmer is committed to organizational excellence and innovation, and is seeking candidates who thrive in a high-performance environment. This is a permanent, full-time position with generous time off and a comprehensive benefits package.
