Job Description: 

Under the supervision of the Facilities Director, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for providing day-to-day maintenance and repair for the building assets of Family Tree to ensure efficient operations and program compliance while meeting assigned objectives. This position is responsible for receiving and completing repair work orders, & performing preventive maintenance at any of the 8 locations operated by Family Tree. This position may also be responsible for determining what materials must be purchased to complete projects/tasks and purchasing said items. Should the need or situation arise, this person may also be required to assist at other Family Tree owned properties, as directed by the Facilities Director.

Areas of Responsibility

 

  1. Receive work orders or other directives from Facilities/Properties Director related to repairs and maintenance work in need of completion at the assigned Family Tree property.
  2. Complete work orders in a timely and quality manner.  Report progress back to Facilities/Properties Director for purposes of closing out or updating work orders in the maintenance database.
  3. In consultation with Facilities/Properties Director, determine materials needed to complete each project, and purchase materials as needed and appropriate.
  4. Ensure all receipts of materials or other items purchased are submitted to Facilities/Properties Director for coding and timely payment.
  5. In consultation with Facilities/Properties Director, determine when certain projects and/or work order requests need to be addressed by licensed contracting professional (e.g. licensed plumber, electrician, etc.).
  6. Prepare and/or perform repairs on all client units and common areas both on the inside and outside of the assigned facility. This is to be done in accordance with Family Tree and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) standards and State licensing regulations in a timely manner.
  7. Will provide requested contact numbers in order to be able to respond to after-hours maintenance emergency calls as needed and determined appropriate by the Facilities Director.
  8. Coordinating and/or assisting with other tasks as requested by supervisor.
  9. Represent Family Tree, Inc. in a professional and informational manner at all times.
  10. Develop and maintain working knowledge of all Family Tree, Inc. programs and services.
  11. Collaboration with staff as needed and appropriate.
  12. Performance of other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements/Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma or GED with three to five years of maintenance experience, ranging from small tasks to substantial projects.
  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of skilled trades including (carpentry, wall repair, plumbing, electrical)
  • Must have the ability to communicate and interact with staff, clients and vendors effectively through written and verbal communication
  • Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license that is able to haul tools, equipment etc.
  • Must be able to work independently and uphold a professional standard working in the community with vendors, staff and Family Tree clients
  • This position could require some schedule flexibility including some evening and/or weekend hours due to emergency situations
  • This position requires strength sufficient to exert force up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • The position also requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a hammer, screwdriver, drill and other power tools or similar equipment.
