Job Description: 

Overall Job Objective: is integral to operations and oversees and manages all aspects of the Family Promise of Greater Denver (FPGD) shelter program, including the clients served, staff and volunteers, office, customer service, facility, and all external relationships. The Shelter Operations Manager will maintain a safe and healthy environment for clients, staff and the public and create a structured team environment dedicated to the excellence and success of FPGD Shelter Program.

Areas of Responsibility

Shelter Operations –

  • Supervise Shelter Family Advocate & shelter social work interns, including weekly general supervision and bi-weekly case planning
  • Ongoing communication with shelter volunteers regarding host week and guest information
  • Communications with shelter guests, including family surveys, completing phone intakes and shelter screenings, and assisting with case management services as needed
  • Oversight of shelter entries, exits, statistics, monthly reporting, and other administrative processes, including oversight of Salesforce and HMIS database entries
  • Coordination/planning related to static site shelter/rotational model
  • Daily operations at static site, Day Site, and congregations, including:
    • Attend dinner at host congregation weekly
    • Provide daytime coverage at static site 3x week
    • Recruitment, scheduling, and oversight of life skills classes volunteers
    • Train, onboard, schedule, and oversee static site staff
    • Manage daily staff/volunteer schedule of static site
  • Ensure all Family Promise staff members and volunteers are up to date and trained on topics related to safety, trauma informed practices, shelter best practices, etc.

 

Community Partnerships -

  • Represent FPGD at community meetings such as; OneHome, Monthly Shelter Meetings, Change the Trend, etc.
  • Establish relationships with other family shelter and service providers in the metro-Denver region and maintain updated information regarding how to access, requirements, etc.
  • Plan and carry out Holiday Gift Drive and party, and other Shelter events, in partnership with other team members

 

Requirements/Qualifications
  • Leads with integrity, has ability to empower and motivate other team members
  • Exhibits the desire to improve and think outside of the box
  • Willing to work extra hours as necessary
  • Provides an inclusive and collaborative environment for staff and partners
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in a shelter environment for people experiencing homelessness
  • Excellent customer service skills with experience in trauma informed practices
  • Able to supervise and create strong and positive team relationships with staff and volunteers
  • Strong interpersonal skills for management of staff, volunteers, and interface with the public
  • Strong ability to lead in an organized and effective manner with high attention to detail
  • Ability to interact with a diverse population; experience with vulnerable populations preferred
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize in line with organizational priorities, deal with a certain level of expected chaos and be able to meet deadlines
  • Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, QuickBooks, and Excel spreadsheet formulas and functions
  • Ability to work independently and with a team, and multi-task many projects
  • Dependable and compassionate demeanor
  • Bachelor degree, lived experience, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Compensation/Benefits
Compensation: 
  • Starting Salary of $50,000 annually with potential for growth
  • Bonus pay as applicable
