Metro Caring seeks a Volunteer Resources Manager to implement the overall vision for the volunteer program, which consists of over 4,000 diverse volunteers annually. Specifically, the Volunteer Resources Manager will manage Metro Caring’s volunteer program by implementing annual goals, maintaining effective data and evaluation, managing the programmatic budget, as well as creating, cultivating, and managing positive individual, community, and corporate relationships. This is a management position that directly supervises the Volunteer Resources Coordinator.

 

Areas of Responsibility

Volunteer Management

  • Responsible for long-term planning and goal setting of Metro Caring’s  volunteer program
  • Hire, train and support dynamic volunteer program staff for effective implementation of goals
  • Evaluate all aspects of the volunteer program to ensure effectiveness and to implement/recommend changes as appropriate
  • Develop and manage volunteer program annual budget
  • Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation and program objectives
  • Lead the written communications for the Metro Caring volunteer program including monthly newsletters, social media posts, and marketing materials
  • Work closely with the Chief Development Officer to promote ongoing and annual fundraising campaigns. This includes creating and managing effective strategies and giving opportunities to increase fundraising through individual and corporate cultivation.
  • Oversee volunteer orientation, training, and special events
  • Collaborate with each department to develop volunteer procedures, performance management and evaluation, guidelines, job descriptions, and requirements
  • Manage corporate volunteer groups through outreach, cultivation, and Metro Caring tours

 

Volunteer Recruitment and Appreciation

  • Manage volunteer recruitment efforts to recruit a diverse pool of volunteers to meet Metro Caring’s dynamic needs
  • Manage existing partnerships with job-readiness programs (SER, AARP, ReHire, etc.) and reoccurring volunteer groups (community and corporate groups)
  • Create and implement volunteer program appreciation plan to maintain strong retention
  • Oversee community outreach volunteer program which includes volunteer recruitment and training for tabling or speaking engagements

 

Culture of Engagement

  • Attend weekly team meetings and monthly all-staff meetings/retreats
  • Refer highly engaged volunteers and coordinate on donor and prospect cultivation
  • Attend a Planting Seeds tour within first month of employment and invite at least 2 contacts per year to attend
  • Must have understanding of system inequities and a commitment to continue personal learning and growth around issues of race and class equity
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Extremely warm and welcoming personality; energized by interacting with a wide variety of people with diverse backgrounds and skillsets
  • Ability to manage relationships and difficult conversations with a diverse, equitable, and inclusive lens
  • Effective communication and presentation skills that inspire volunteers and volunteer team during community engagement opportunities, small group conversations, presentations, and beginning of shift “Gatherings”, and trainings.
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and think strategically
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Talent for training, motivating, and coaching others, ability to support volunteers through challenging situations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience in donor relations including individual and corporate donor cultivation, communications and stewardship (experience with Benevon or another major gifts model a plus)
  • Strong computer skills necessary; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with database management systems (specifically Salesforce and Volgistics); social media preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin a plus (or other language represented in Denver’s diverse refugee and immigrant community)
  • 3-5 years’ experience in volunteer coordination and/or staff management
