Payrate:    $18.50/hour starting wage
($19/hour after successful completion of 150-day probationary period)

Work Schedule:    Monday ~ Saturday, 9am ~ 5pm* | Sundays, 11am ~ 5pm* | < 30 hours/week
*This position must accommodate a flexible work schedule. Shift lengths and start times may vary depending on operational demands and Museum closures including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional special events.

Summary
Visitor Services Associates are responsible for providing a positive and memorable experience for Museum-goers. This position serves to enhance the guest experience by welcoming and assisting visitors from entrance to exit. They are the public face of the organization and help to facilitate Museum operations on a day-to-day basis. Visitor Services Associates work together on a team as members of the Visitor Services department reporting directly to the Visitor Services Manager and work inter-departmentally with the Museum Store, Facilities, Corporate Events, program staff, etc.

Founded in 1994 on the former Lowry Air Force Base in east Denver’s historic Lowry Field neighborhood, Wings Over the Rockies is a non-profit community organization dedicated to unlocking dreams of flight through exhibits, local events, and educational programming. We are Colorado’s premier Air & Space Museum having been recognized by CNN Travel as one of their 20 Best aviation museums in the world. Each year we welcome roughly 160,000 visitors representing all 50 states and dozens of countries internationally. Wings is committed to diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. The Museum boasts more than 100,000 sq. ft. of open hangar space full of iconic aircraft, space vehicles, historical artifacts, and more. Visitors can experience thrilling flight simulators, discover educational programs, and participate in one of our many exciting museum-sponsored events.

Exploration of Flight (EoF) is our flight-focused educational extension. This 15-acre campus is located at the Centennial Airport where we offer showcase events with a variety of aircraft, aviation immersion programs, pilot ground training, and flight experiences. EoF is home to our Blue Sky Gallery exhibit and interactive aviation center featuring an airworthy fleet of civilian and military aircraft.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet each museum visitor, including members, paid and invited guests, groups, event clientele, and vendors
  • Represent the museum to the public in a welcoming, energetic, professional, and friendly manner
  • Supports policies for internal and external guest experience; models outstanding guest experience at all times
  • Sell tickets for simulators, museum retail store, and memberships/renewal opportunities to all guests and current members
  • Promote various events, membership drives, promotions, and new exhibits to guests in a productive and informational manner
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance
  • Inspect the department locations through the eyes of the visitor, and ensure that any irregularities are reported
  • Help manage the traffic flow of visitors and engage with all guests entering the facility
  • Direct deliveries, vendors and event traffic
  • Assist with maintaining the museum store on a daily basis: restocking merchandise, reorganizing shelves, tidying displays
  • Communicate well and often with staff, guests, and volunteers
  • Become trained on how to effectively communicate and interact with people with disabilities and neurodivergent people; some shifts will be scheduled during Sensory Friendly hours and other events that require knowledge on proper etiquette and awareness of people with disabilities and neurodivergent people
  • Handle guest complaints or issues in a manner that ensures positive guest experience recovery, and communicate with managers if additional support is required
  • Provide efficient and accurate collection of fees; Make change and issues receipts to all paying visitors.
  • Utilize Point-of-Sale (POS) systems
  • Reconcile cash drawer at the end of each shift and prepare report of transactions
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area
  • Operate various equipment including (but not limited to) flight simulators and VR (virtual reality)
  • Adhere to ride incident/accident reporting procedure
  • Ensure all rides and facilities operate properly, checklist done prior to opening, and address/resolve any issues as they arise

Working Conditions
Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum operates within an 80-year-old aircraft hangar. Exploration of Flight is located at a busy regional airport. Environmental conditions may vary.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 6-months cashier experience and guest experience role
  • Strong interpersonal communication and time management skills
  • Positive personality and exceptional customer service skills
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with basic computer software applications
  • Ability to communicate effectively in noisy, crowded, or stressful situations
  • Self-motivated and capable of working individually and on a team
  • Conversational Spanish or other language proficiency (preferred)
  • Able to navigate 100,000 sq. ft. of floor space and stand for up to 8 hours in all (cold/hot/wet/humid/dry) conditions
  • Must be able to push, pull, squat, and lift 50+ lbs.
