Position Description

The Pantry Manager is responsible for all aspects of BGOLDN’s Fresh Food Pantry, including

procurement, food donation coordination, distribution of food to community members, home

delivery, and site management. The manager recruits, trains, and manages volunteers for the

pantry, home delivery, and grocery rescue. They embrace BGOLDN’s mission to increase food

security in the Golden community through innovative partnerships and programs.

Key Pantry Responsibilities

● Maintain adequate food supply to provide the best quality and diverse selection of

food for the average number of visitors per week within the food budget.

● Manage the ordering and receiving of food and validate invoices from various vendors.

● Receive and record food donations. Assist with coordinating food drives.

● Coordinate and support volunteers to stock the pantry and ensure all food is sorted

and stored properly.

● Maintain accurate records of food purchases, distribution, and client data. Submit

appropriate invoices on time to accounting.

● Work with area grocery stores, food banks, and other no-cost distribution sources to

increase food donations. Coordinate receiving and stocking of donated food.

● Utilize good inventory practices to ensure food quality and minimize waste.

● Manage the food distribution process to clients with the help of other pantry staff and

volunteers. Create a weekly shopping list, which is modified daily.

● Manage home delivery program, including correspondence with households, route

management for delivery driver and coordinate food box packing with volunteers.

● Work with the Director of Marketing on communications and promotion opportunities.

● Implement food pantry safety policies and procedures as enforced by BGOLDN,

Colorado Department of Health, and USDA.

● Represent BGOLDN at relevant meetings; Hunger Free Golden, Jefferson County Food

Task Force, Action Center Hub, etc.

● Assist the Executive Director with the budget process for pantry operations.

Personnel Supervision

● Schedule pantry volunteers to ensure consistent, adequate support for operations.

● Oversee and train volunteer activities in coordination with the Operations Lead.

● Coordinate work schedule with Operations Lead to ensure staff coverage.

Facilities Management

● Maintain a clean, well-ordered pantry with the operations lead.

● Manage hours of operations to best accommodate our clients’ needs.

● Coordinate onsite relationship with the rented space landlord.

● Ensure all equipment – refrigerators, freezers, scale, shelving, etc. stay in good working

order; schedule maintenance as needed.

Qualifications

● 1 to 3 Years of Supervisory and Operations experience required.

● Strong communication and leadership skills – The position requires the ability to

interact and communicate with staff, volunteers, pantry clients and board of directors.

● Knowledge of food safety, storage practices, and inventory management.

● A valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record are required.

● Working knowledge of computer systems, including email, MS Excel and Word.

● Strong organization and time management skills required.

● Able to work as a collaborative team member in delivering customer service.

● Certified in food handling safety standards desired (will provide training if needed).

● Background check required before start date.

This position requires walking, standing, sitting, and lifting boxes up to 40 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Rate: Salary; $38,000 - $42,000, depending on scheduling and experience.

Work Schedule: 25-30 hours per week between Monday and Friday, with occasional weekends and evenings at your discretion. The work schedule aligns with the pantry's operating hours and ensures coverage by the Pantry Operations Manager.

Payment Frequency: Bi-Monthly
