Who We Are:
For over 55 years the mission of Community Ministry of SW Denver has been to meet the basic needs of individuals who are experiencing economic hardships
and related problems. We do this by offering a self-choice food pantry, children’s clothing, school supplies, holiday food boxes, Christmas gifts for
children and assistance with utilities through a grant from Energy Outreach Colorado. We also collaborate with other non-profit agencies to provide wrap-around
services.
Executive Director job overview:
The ExecutiveDirector acts as the chief executive officer of Community Ministry, providing leadership across all operational, strategic, and administrative areas. This
individual holds ultimate accountability for the organization’s performance, ensuring all initiatives align with its mission, vision, and core values. The
role requires a dynamic leader who can drive strategic objectives while maintaining financial stability and operational excellence.
To support a smooth transition, the incoming Executive Director will work alongside the current Executive Director for the first three to six months, allowing time for
comprehensive training and knowledge transfer before assuming full responsibility.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a managerial or directorial position for a minimum of five to ten years.
- Knowledge and experience in organizational management, staff management, and strategic planning. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in leading and managing teams.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of groups such as the board, volunteers, staff, donors, civic groups and other non-profit organizations.
- Understanding of financial statements and budgeting.
- Computer skills should include Microsoft Word, Excel, and other desktop publishing tools.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s license with no driving restrictions.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish language skills desirable.
Supervision:
This position is accountable to and reports directly to the Board of Directors
Board and Organizational Support
- Prepare Board materials: Meeting minutes, agenda, reports.
- Serve as liaison to all committees.
- Advise Board of organizational issues/expectations
Core Initiative
- Oversee all aspects of staff and volunteer performance/service delivery.
- Provide staff development-coaching, supervision, and evaluation.
- Conduct staff meetings.
- Provide oversight of special projects including fundraising events, volunteer education and marketing.
- Works with staff to identify and communicate needs to supporters.
Financial/Budget
- Oversee budget development and implementation.
- Manage checking, emergency and investment accounts.
- Review records with accountant, treasurer, and auditor.
- Make deposits
- Prepare annual report.
- File legal documents for the organization.
Resource Development
Represent Community Ministry in coordination with the Development Director to:
- Build relationships with churches, community groups and service organizations.
- Build relationships with businesses to create sponsorships etc.
- Speak at meetings of Civic organizations etc.
- Retain recurring donors
Marketing/Awareness
- Develop a Marketing Plan
- Development and marketing of special projects with the Development Director
- Direct design and development of marketing materials with the Development Director
Client Services
- Develop a working knowledge of every aspect of daily operations, policies, and procedures.
- Support the volunteers and staff as needed.
