The CELL Special Projects Intern provides critical support for various CELL events, projects, and programs. As a CELL Intern, you will participate in a dynamic experience that provides exposure to leaders in the public safety, political, business, and international relations communities. You will receive valuable professional and hands on experience in the non-profit arena.

Essential Functions

  • Supports project managers in coordinating schedules and milestones for CELL events, projects, and programs
  • Delivers engaging and informative trainings, presentations, and progress updates to a variety of groups both internally and externally
  • Researches and reports upon topics related to domestic and international terrorism, homeland security, national security, global security, and community safety efforts
  • Helps coordinate logistics, update internal and external documents, and prepare supplies and materials for programs and events
  • Provides timely communication to team members and management on all projects, both verbally and via weekly written status reports
  • Assists with the development of new tours and curriculum materials for the CELL exhibit
  • Maintains relationships with and provides timely communication to all key partners and stakeholders
  • Other related duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • Upper level undergraduate student or graduate student in a related field preferred
  • Experience with project management or coordination strongly preferred
  • Passion for and experience in security studies, international relations, and current events
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Outstanding writing, presentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, professional environment a plus
  • Highly motivated, positive, flexible, and proactive team player is a must
  • Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds on an occasional basis and up to 10 pounds frequently

Hours and Salary

This is a paid internship. Interns should be able to dedicate 20-25 hours a week during office hours, ideally on two to three full 8-hour days. Due to covid-19, this position may require work hours to be completed remotely. Some weekends and evenings will be required for assistance staffing CELL programs. This internship will start in January 2021 and last for one to two academic terms.
