The A.V. Hunter Trust is pleased to announce an opening for a part-time Accounting Manager.  The Trust is Colorado’s oldest private foundation and provides funding to assist youth, seniors, indigent and disabled populations in Colorado.  This position will manage the day-to-day accounting activities of the Trust and coordinate the annual audit and preparation of tax returns.  The position reports to the Executive Director.

The ideal candidate will be compassionate toward those in need, self-motivated, able to meet deadlines, and willing to collaborate with other staff members.  The Trust fosters a friendly, team-oriented environment.  We have a small but solid team in place where all members respect each other, rely on each other, and work well independently and together to carry out the mission of the Trust. 

Areas of Responsibility

Accounting and Reporting

  1. Maintains the system of accounting procedures and controls.
  2. Ensures that payroll, accounts payable invoices, and grant payments are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  3. Ensures that investment and bank accounts are reconciled monthly, and all transactions are recorded properly.
  4. Issues timely and accurate financial reports.
  5. Manages cash requirements and funding allocation analysis and reporting.
  6. Provides other financial analysis as needed and performs other duties as assigned.


  1. Provides auditor with all requested financial reports to complete the annual audit and prepare the tax returns.
  2. Reviews audit and Form 990 draft reports before the final reports are presented to the Board of Trustees.
  3. Complies with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Qualified candidates will have a proven track record of maintaining accurate financial records, facilitating annual external financial audits, and complying with local, state and federal tax requirements.
  • Must be proficient in financial analysis, reporting, and payment processing.
  • Must excel at effectively communicating with management, staff, auditors, and vendors.
  • Strong computer skills are essential.

The position offers an hourly wage commensurate with experience and a flexible work environment.
