Job Title:             Business Development Sales Account Representative

Reports To:         VP Sales and Investor Strategy

Pay Range:       $30,000-$35,000 base pay, plus earned commission

Expected Hours: Full Time (40 hours/week)

What’s the Job?

The Business Development Sales Account Representative is part of a collaborative team that focuses on bringing new members into the Chamber to increase the community and to grow revenue to fund the Chamber’s work.  Business Development Sales Account Representatives also focuses on building upon these entry level membership sales (Bronze, Silver, Gold) and working closely with members to upsell and to retain. 

What will you do?

Time will be spent on membership sales and relationship management internally as well as externally. 

  • Utilize phone solicitation (cold calling prospects and existing members), written correspondence and face to face meetings to reach and exceed budgeted membership sales and renewal targets.
  • Collaborate directly with Events and Sponsorship salesperson as a ‘co-seller’ in presenting the benefits of the Chamber as it relates to events strategy.
  • Bring in VP, Affiliate Directors, CEO to help bring the Chamber mission to life. Identify the prospects and set up these appointments as a ‘concierge seller’ and resource to our members.
  • Develop and implement framework for integrated sales plan.  Use CRM for tracking and reporting, and to coordinate cross department communication (Sales/Event Team/ Affiliates).
  • Work on creation and execution of contracts, invoices and payment follow up with Customer Success Manager. Update all communication in CRM.
  • Onboard new members clearly and concisely and promote use of website portal for member to track their engagement and membership with DMCC.
  • Use CRM to track year 1, year 2, and year 3+ renewals, and to reduce churn through upselling and timely paying of invoices.
  • Working closely with the VP and Mar Comms team: Ensure seamless Business Development sales execution and maintenance of collateral.
  • Work closely with VP and Mar Comms team to develop marketing materials and use templated formats to present a unified DMCC. Ask for what you do not have, and what you need to be successful in presenting the DMCC!
  • Attend functions as assigned: Membership briefings/ Net90s/ Gold Programs, Leads groups etc.
  • In working with Members, Affiliates, VP, and peers, innovate and introduce new ideas, and potential new ways to delight our members.  We seek input here! Business Development Team represents the voice of our community!

What types of skills, competencies and experience do you need?

  • Experience in sales 2+ years
  • Knowledge of how to navigate small to midsize businesses and find decision makers  
  • Knowledge of CRM and how to manage book of business, prospects, leads and to close business
  • Computer skills: creating presentations, word processing, excel

  • Equipment to be used includes a PC based network system with internet and intranet capabilities
  • CRM
  • Normal work hours at the Chamber are from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday.  Working hours may fluctuate depending on the timing of events.
