Rocky Mountain Prep is a family of four tuition-free schools in the Denver-Metro area. Our culture of love and inclusion means that we welcome, support, and challenge everyone with kindness and respect as we work toward preparing our scholars for long-term success. RMP currently serves 1,850 students across grades Pre-K through 5 and currently has 250 staff members across its schools and network support offices

Role Mission: 

The communications intern will help strengthen RMP's brand as a loving and rigorous public elementary school network. Their work will help us build our presence on social media, optimize our website and other digital platforms, and will support our network and school teams with communication/marketing, and help to align our branding across all communications platforms. Effective and well-designed communications are key to engaging all stakeholders, both internal and external. This internship is an exciting opportunity to develop valuable skills and build meaningful experience in communications.

Areas of Responsibility

In this role, you will: 

  • Help build on RMP’s social media strategy and work to collect stories/information, write content, and share information and news across all platforms
  • Assist and lead on design projects, including supporting with the creation and execution of marketing materials in multiple languages
  • Support our website content management
  • Design and test email campaigns
  • Create content for our blog and assist in other writing as needed 
  • Support our broader network team with communications work through the creation of designed, on-brand materials as needed
  • Perform office support responsibilities on various projects 

Salary:

This position comes with an hourly wage of $16/hour and will average 20 hours per week, with a maximum of no more than 30 hours per week. We are happy to be flexible with days and hours as candidates need for school or other employment. Because this is a part-time position, it is not benefits-eligible.

Vaccine Update

The City & County of Denver recently issued a vaccine mandate for public employees. This mandate applies to charter schools. Please be aware that all Rocky Mountain Prep staff members are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination. There is a process for requesting an exemption to this mandate but we cannot guarantee that a request for exemption will be approved.

Requirements/Qualifications
  • Interest in communications, marketing, and/or not for profit work (degree-seeking students may qualify for work-study/college credit)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Internet proficiency; experience with social media, blogs, and/or website content management preferred 
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to both multitask and  meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to work remotely as well as in an open-office environment, depending on circumstances, and occasional evening and weekend hours during events, as needed
