Who is DURA?

The Denver Urban Renewal Authority (DURA) is a full-service redevelopment agency engaged in neighborhood and downtown revitalization, economic redevelopment and housing rehabilitation throughout the City and County of Denver.The Construction Supervisor is responsible for managing and oversight of the rehabilitation process for DURA’s Housing Programs and facilitates construction work between DURA clients, the Rehabilitation team and contractors.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Coordinate and monitor field operations including schedules, workloads, job completion and client satisfaction
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable DURA policies and procedures and federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Review and approve all addendums and change orders
  • Work with Rehabilitation Specialists to ensure essential repairs are completed
  • Review files for contractor payments, modifications and payment requests
  • Manage an individual rehabilitation caseload while supervising three Rehabilitation Specialists
  • Project Management including guiding homeowners through rehabilitation process, inspections, quality control and management of contractors
  • Resolve conflicts between homeowners and contractors regarding workmanship, expectations, and warranty issues
  • Oversee contractor recruitment process
  • Manage annual pricing updates and contractor meetings
  • Coordinate with Executive Director and Grant Management Supervisor to supervise Housing Programs
  • Review caseloads with Rehabilitation Specialists and trouble-shoot potential issues
  • Meet with Chief Building Inspectors as needed regarding electrical, roofing and plumbing code changes
  • Assist with DURA outreach efforts and participate in community events to foster awareness of DURA programs
  • Monitor State and Federal Certifications and contractor insurances and licenses
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Five years of general contractor or home inspection experience in construction work including inspections or as a construction superintendent or any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of construction trades including but not limited to plumbing, masonry, electrical and roofing
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to effectively communicate in public and present information in a concise and understandable format
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain a productive, high-performing team
  • Knowledge of Denver Building Code and the City’s permit implementation process
  • Knowledge of HUD guidelines as they apply to DURA’s Housing Programs
  • Extensive knowledge of construction trade, certified home inspector, lead risk assessment inspector or other applicable certifications preferred
  • Ability to write specifications and descriptions of work and provide drawings for contractor use
  • Strong computer skills (Excel & Word) and experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software preferred
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license
  • High school diploma (required)
  • Supervise three Rehabilitation Specialists
  • The DURA office is in the Denver Dry Building, right off 16th Street providing great access to all that Downtown Denver has to offer.
  • Work from home two days per week
  • Work in both the field and DURA office as required
  • Inspections done in private homes require the ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairs, and to enter crawlspaces, roofs, attics and other confined spaces within the structure.
  • Use of personal vehicle required (mileage reimbursed)
Compensation/Benefits
Compensation: 

Starting Pay range: $78,500 to $120,000 depending on experience
