Continuum of Colorado is seeking an Activities Assistant for our various day programs and community-based activities around the Denver, CO Metro area.

We are looking for someone who is committed to providing excellent customer service and supports to seniors and/or adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our site-based day programs are located in Aurora and Littleton, CO. While on-site you would be assisting with crafts, exercises, and day-to-day program needs. Our community-based activities, which require more driving responsibilities and working independently, will focus on supporting the individuals we serve on their community outings to museums, parks, bowling, and other fun activities.

Due to certain day program activities that involve supporting our male individuals, we encourage males to apply.

This is a full-time position working 36 hours/week. This position will work either 4 - 9 hour days (M-Th) or 5 - 7 hour days (M-F). However, the schedule and location may vary depending on programmatic needs, so flexibility is appreciated.

This is a rewarding position where you get to supervise and interact one on one or with a small group of individuals while facilitating the following:

  • Community activities such as visiting new museum exhibits, nature walks, swimming, bowling and other area venues
    • While continuing to adhere to Covid guidelines, many of our community-based activities are continuing in outdoor and open spaces
  • Site-based activities such as skill building and memory exercises including sensory fun, gardening, games, arts and crafts, socializing, singing and music activities
  • Meeting individuals in services' needs for transportation
  • Implementing and documenting Individualized Service and Support Plans (ISSP), care plans and protocols
  • Physical fitness
  • Community volunteer projects
  • Hobby development

Your role as an Activities Assistant will help participants become active members of their community; help them develop skills for future success; and provide meaningful activities to enhance their quality of life.

Requirements/Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One (1) year experience in an area directly related to job, preferred (i.e., developmental disabilities, elderly, etc.)
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate at all levels with managers, employees, individuals in services and others
  • Ability to work flexible hours and locations depending on program needs
  • Able to pass and maintain certification in all required training
  • Able to perform needed personal care
  • Able to use crisis intervention techniques as trained by Continuum and as directed by our participants’ service plan
  • Able to operate a wheelchair appropriately and assist with individuals who may be non-ambulatory, including transfers; able to meet physical demands of the position
  • Personal vehicle in good operating condition for use during work and transporting individuals as necessary
  • Valid Colorado driver's license; proof of insurance; 3 years of current, consecutive driving history
  • Meet our driving requirements - no suspensions or revocations in the past 3 years. Less than 3 tickets in the past 3 years
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
  • Working knowledge of the I/DD system, rules, and regulations

Competitive pay - $13.85 to $14.45/ hr.
