Second Wind Fund (SWF) is a 501(c)(3) Colorado-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to reduce the incidence of suicide in children and youth by removing the financial and social barriers to treatment. SWF services are provided in 30 counties across Colorado. Since 2002, SWF has provided life-saving services to over 7,000 Colorado youth.

The Development Director will report to the Executive Director. The primary role of the Development Director is to provide oversight and management of all fundraising/development activities for Second Wind Fund. Development opportunities include individual donor relationships, private foundations, corporate partnerships, donor-focused events, and targeted grant applications. The Development Director has responsibility for achievement of budgeted revenue goals.

SWF is seeking a full-time position - 40 hours per week. Salary is commensurate with experience. Join a small but mighty team of five fellow staffers at an organization with a life-saving mission!

Areas of Responsibility
  • Work with the Executive Director to create, implement, and oversee an annual comprehensive development strategy.
  • Develop and maintain individual relationships with SWF supporters.
  • Co-lead the Board Fundraising Committee and occasionally participate at Board meetings.
  • Plan, design, and execute annual electronic and direct mail appeals.
  • Prospect, cultivate, and steward new/existing individual, corporate, and foundation relationships.
  • Maintain accurate information in Zoho database and ensure effective use of database including gift entry, reporting, and production of donor acknowledgements.
  • Manage the transition of database and fundraising tools to new technology solutions (e.g. Zoho)
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, coordinate and track the development of grant requests and write/submit all grant applications in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • In collaboration with the Program Director, compile and submit all reports for awarded grants.
  • Plan, design, and execute SWF events while maximizing sponsorship opportunities: Annual Walk/Run, Gift of Life Breakfast, Golf Tournament, and Colorado Gives Day.
  • Ensure that sponsors receive all benefits and recognition opportunities promised as part of donations and contracts.
  • Oversee Major Donor Giving Program: Hope Builder’s Club - $1,000 and up.
  • Manage Social Media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Oversee, manage, and engage in speaking requests: Kiwanis, Rotary, Church Groups, etc.
  • Participate in activities and networking events appropriately to maximize exposure for SWF.
  • Manage website via WordPress - content development and user experience.
  • Manage marketing activities: design graphics for newsletters, social media, and website; ensure SWF branding is consistent in all digital and print assets; create digital marketing strategies that enhance fundraising activities; work with external graphic designer to create materials that encapsulate the mission of SWF.
  • Attend day, night, and weekend events as needed.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by Executive Director.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or at least three years of experience in non-profit development.
  • Proven track-record of successful fundraising, preferably budgets over $500,000.
  • Passion for the mission of Second Wind Fund, youth suicide prevention, and mental health.
  • Outstanding research, oral communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with database management to track donations, donors, and follow-up communications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to network and establish rapport quickly with all constituents, including staff, Board members, community groups, and funders.
  • Engage and participate in SWF’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging efforts.
  • Microsoft Office Suite software proficiency and knowledge of internet and database applications.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $63,000 DOE
