Overall Planning – Assist in implementing all events as well as the strategic plan for the annual Walk to Defeat ALS®. Plan includes revenue targets, expense budget and a detailed timeline of activities and deadlines for all activities noted below.
Event Coordination – Assist in the coordination of event activities and logistics, including the event online registration site through Luminate (fundraising database), kick-off and awards events, logistics, monitoring Walk dashboard and metrics, thanking attendees and volunteers in a timely manner, and providing reports to the Development Team and the CEO.
Walk Team Recruitment and Team Building – Identify new Walk team captains and participants and encourage them to be involved. Serve as the point of contact for Walk team captains and individual participants. Coach Walk team captains and participants to reach revenue targets. Develop creative ways to engage participants, particularly patient families and lapsed teams. Build positive and lasting relationships on behalf of The ALS Association to achieve revenue and non-revenue goals.
Volunteer Recruitment and Management – Assist in developing event committees of volunteers to assist in putting on various events, event-day volunteers, assure key Committee positions are filled and recruit new volunteers as needed. Schedule meetings and oversee committee work to assure goals are achieved. Provide direction on assignments and empower volunteers of all levels to assist with revenue and non-revenue generating activities. Provide volunteers with clear and concise objectives, expectations, job descriptions and goals, and encourage and motivate them to be successful. Assist with monthly committee meetings and maintain timely communication with committee members.
ALS Awareness Events –Support Development Staff to successfully execute all ALS Awareness Events
Administrative and Other Functions – Assist with other development and fundraising activities as assigned. Ensure that all materials provided and utilized for events are in accordance with National policy and best practices. Perform other duties as assigned.
