Developmental Disabilities Resource Center of Lakewood, CO is seeking to hire full-time and part time Direct Support Professionals to work in our residential department supporting people with developmental disabilities. Developmental Disabilities Resource Center (DDRC) is a nonprofit private corporation which provides services and supports to adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Since 1974, we have been providing quality programs and resources to people and their families in Jefferson, Clear Creek, Gilpin, and Summit counties. Our focus is to offer people a positive choice over their lives which results in person-centered services.

Areas of Responsibility


As a Direct Support Professional, you are responsible for providing support and guidance to people who live in various residential settings. The support provided includes:

  • Walking side by side as people live the lives they want to live.
  • Provide support in providing entertainment during the evening and weekends.
  • Helping people to make meals of their choice.
  • Assist people to complete their daily routines in regards to selecting the clothes they want to wear, what they want to do and where they want to go.
  • Providing transportation when people want to go to work and/or social events.
  • Educating people with developmental disabilities on budgeting, household maintenance, relationships, etc.

In addition you get to work with a dynamic team of people who's focus in on supporting people to live the lives they want to live.  You will love knowing that your hard work is making a difference in the lives of the amazing people we serve. 

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is a plus but we're willing to provide extensive training.
  • Good physical stamina and the ability to safely stand, pivot and transfer up to 75 pounds in order to transfer people is required.
  • We will have you complete a pre-placement physical/function test in order to obtain the position.
  • Finally, we require a good Motor Vehicle Record and will ask that you bring a copy to a scheduled interview.
