Rocky Mountain Prep is a growing network of innovative public charter schools, serving students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade in the Greater Denver Area. Rocky Mountain Prep opened its first school in 2012 with 130 students and has grown to four schools, working with over 1,800 scholars across two districts. Role Mission:  The purpose of the Director of Academics: Lower el is the improvement of instructional clarity, content, and execution of a balanced literacy and math curriculum in K-2nd grade across four RMP schools.  In this role, the Director of Academics builds content and curricular capacities of school based leaders and teachers to improve the outcomes for students.  The Director of Academics: Lower el is the network team expert on our ELA and math curricula and programs: Amplify (CKLA), Expeditionary Learning, and math. 

 

Accountabilities: Students in K-2 make 1.5 year’s growth in reading and in math, as measured by Renaissance STAR and Dibels.

 

Vaccine Update

The City & County of Denver recently issued a vaccine mandate for public employees. This mandate applies to charter schools. Please be aware that all Rocky Mountain Prep staff members are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination. There is a process for requesting exemption to this mandate but we cannot guarantee that a request for exemption will be approved.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Lead strategic initiatives to build instructional capacity at schools such as providing focused analysis to leaders, building content capacity through coaching, and conducting daily observations
  • Provide professional development and coaching to school leadership regarding curriculum implementation for literacy and math instruction
  • Provide professional development and coaching to teachers regarding curriculum implementation for literacy and math instruction
  • Analyze network-wide data to determine progress toward goals and isolate next steps 
  • Participate in summer and year-long school-based professional development sessions
  • Perform other duties, as required
Requirements/Qualifications
  • 3+ years of lead teaching experience in a public elementary school
  • 1+ years of experience in leadership and coaching (either as an administrator or teacher leader)
  • Deep knowledge of the science of reading and classroom instruction techniques that lead to outstanding literacy results
  • Deep knowledge of K-2 foundational skills
  • Experience with Amplify (CKLA), Expeditionary Learning, math (or similar) curriculum
  • Experience with Renaissance STAR and Dibels
  • Be able to provide an official transcript demonstrating graduation from an undergraduate institution
  • Pass a background check
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States
Compensation/Benefits
Compensation: 

The salary range for this position is $59,500-$80,500 and is commensurate with skills and experience. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.
