Community Resource Center (CRC) is a nonprofit organization established in 1981 to provide innovative resources, tools and strategies to nonprofits and community based organizations in Colorado. We believe in the power of the nonprofit sector to affect change and support thriving communities. We envision a strong and sustainable nonprofit sector leading our state towards a more just future. Our work is centered on building the capacity of individuals, organizations and networks to effect change. We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic leader to build upon the organization’s successes in strengthening Colorado’s nonprofit sector.

CRC’s work environment is fast paced, dynamic and flexible. Candidates should be comfortable working in and with diverse communities across Colorado. CRC is a member of the Colorado Collaborative for Nonprofits and has 18 staff and 3 AmeriCorps VISTA team members. Position Summary: The Director of Operations will work in partnership with the leadership team to execute CRC’s strategic direction through the advancement of operational priorities and support of healthy organizational growth. This position will nurture a high performing and positive team culture focused on open communication, and drive high levels of service internally and externally. The Director of Operations will lead the operations team to advance efficient systems and processes in the areas of finance, administration, recruitment and technology solutions. This position will partner with the leadership team and staff inclusivity committee to drive diversity, equity and inclusion efforts within the organization. 

This position will supervise the finance staff, HR staff and AmeriCorps VISTA member and oversee coordination and deliverables with contractors and service providers.

Areas of Responsibility

Areas of Responsibility: Oversee daily operations of organization and work collaboratively with other senior leadership to ensure goals are met through sound implementation of operations systems, infrastructure, policies, processes, and staffing. Cultivate an employment environment in full compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements.  Ensure all employees are treated fairly and equitably. Nurture an atmosphere of curiosity, innovation and continual improvement.


  • Coordinate with financial staff and contractors to produce accurate and timely financial statements
  • Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenses, the general ledger, account maintenance, data entry, and financial recordkeeping
  • Build and lead the annual budgeting process, monthly end close process, and quarterly forecasting; minimize actual vs. forecast quarterly variances
  • Manage the organization’s cash flow; support business planning with sophisticated financial models and accurate revenue forecasts
  • Lead and manage the annual external audit including management of schedules and control narratives; serve as primary point of contact for auditors; implement auditor recommendations
  • Oversee preparation of annual 990

Business Operations & Systems

  • Managing day-to-day operations and providing guidance and oversight for facilities and office management; lead process of re-entry to onsite work when it is deemed safe to return to the office
  • Update organizational tools for measuring finance and operational progress and demonstrating impact on outcomes
  • Direct staff in monitoring and reporting on progress toward achieving the operational goals of strategic plan and annual work plan
  • Determine technology needs required to achieve strategic operational and program objectives. Recommend appropriate changes and/or improvements
  • Review management and legal activities such as memorandums of understanding, contracts, leases, and other legal documents and agreements
  • Oversee planning and coordination of the monthly all team meeting to drive the priorities of the organization, build team alignment and support an inclusive culture


Recruitment & Talent Development

  • Oversee efforts to recruit, train, promote, and retain diverse staff, AmeriCorps VISTA, volunteer and intern positions and ensure a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work place.
  • Oversee new team member onboarding to ensure efficiencies.
  • Administer and process payroll and employee benefits ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Implement HR policies and procedures that advance the strategic needs of the organization.
  • Serve as an expert resource for supervisors on performance management, employee issues, disputes and resolution. Provide coaching/counseling to management and staff.
  • Diagnose opportunities for team member learning; in partnership with others, develop and facilitate organization-specific training sessions; assess training effectiveness through evaluations.
  • Remain visible and interface with staff on a regular basis to obtain feedback on service levels, solutions and overall satisfaction.  
  • Bachelor’s degree required, and/or 5 years of progressive nonprofit accounting, finance and operations experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working in the nonprofit accounting, finance and/or budgeting.
  • Minimum three years of supervision experience
  • High-level understanding of all business functions such as IT, HR, Finance and Accounting, Legal and Marketing
  • Experience with government grant compliance
  • Experience with CRM’s, QuickBooks, email platforms, and registration systems
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
  • Willingness to work cooperatively as part of a team, bringing a positive attitude and excellent professionalism and judgement
  • Adaptable to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal positively with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • (Preferred) AmeriCorps service or oversight of AmeriCorps programming
  • (Preferred) Demonstrated experience driving diversity, equity and inclusion efforts
  • (Preferred) Strong understanding of Colorado’s nonprofit and philanthropic sector
  • (Preferred) Strategic, empathetic, fast paced leader
  • (Preferred) Proven ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • (Preferred) Professional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with others

This is a full-time position based in CRC’s Denver office. Salary range is $62-$68k and is commensurate with depth of experience and overall qualifications.
