Job Description: 

The Housing Intake Specialist will be responsible for assisting with a wide range of Housing Counseling activities related to determining and documenting participant demographics, income, assistance options, as well as assisting with Homebuyer Education.

Areas of Responsibility
  1. Act as initial contact for clients seeking Housing Counseling services
  2. Field basic questions about the Housing Counseling Program
  3. Conduct applicant intake interviews and triage clients based on need
  4. Schedule and prepare clients for meetings with Housing Counselor
  5. Obtain necessary income verification and other required intake information
  6. Assist with preparing and submitting Loss Mitigation Applications and follow up with lenders for other required documentation
  7. Determine client eligibility mortgage assistance programs
  8. Lead follow up meetings with pre-purchase clients using online First Time Home Buyer workshops
  9. Oversee data-entry into online databases and maintain client files
  10. Oversee and manage client follow-up system
  11. Develop relationships with community-based agencies to provide targeted resource lists for clients
  12. Assist with fundraisers and marketing/community events as necessary
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to use time-management skills to achieve success with schedules, workloads and deadlines
  • Ability to utilize organizational skills to manage all aspects of a client’s case, including tracking activities, updating records and monitoring outcomes
  • Must manage files and documents, follow recordkeeping requirements and maintain confidentiality
  • Requires skilled reading, analyzing and interpreting government regulations, policies and procedures
  • Must possess problem solving abilities with skills to identify critical issues, and demonstrated ability to use critical thinking to solve problems
  • Manage multiple work streams and priorities simultaneously while maintaining quality, customer service standards and accuracy
  • Requires strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to forge positive relationships with clients, co-workers and colleagues
  • Must be able to evaluate information and situations in order to make sound independent decisions
  • Must possess strong writing skills to compose documents, reports and correspondence
  • Proficient data entry and computer skills and the ability to use and manage computer files, use databases, create spreadsheets and prepare presentations
  • Must obtain the HUD Housing Counselor certification by August 1, 2021
  • Graduation from high school required; college degree preferred; two (2) years progressively responsible related experience in case management or property management capacity; or a combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of HUD policies, and other Federal, State, and local laws, rules and regulations related to homeownership and foreclosures
  • Ability to communicate with and relate to persons of diverse backgrounds and abilities; and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants and other employees
Compensation/Benefits
Compensation: 

$18 per hour ($20 per hour after successful completion of HUD Certification)
