JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing PERA's insurance program information to retired and active members.  Ability, compassion, and patience to work with a retired population.  Endurance to explain complex concepts in simple terms in an effort to take our member from confusion to understanding.  Advocates with carriers on behalf of members and understands compliance rules with insurance plans.

Areas of Responsibility

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide accurate and timely health care, prescription drug, dental, vision, and life insurance information to PERA's retired and active members
  • Skilled with delivering information that may not be well received with empathy while upholding plan rules and restrictions
  • Effectively explain and clarify plan information including counseling
  • Daily communications with members include: in-person, over the phone, written correspondence, and at scheduled meetings
  • Act as liaison between members and carriers in researching and resolving eligibility, coverage, and claims issues
  • Manage and complete workflow items and reports, such as discrepancy reports and aging out of the plan
  • Manage multiple interruptions on a daily basis, while maintaining a high level of accuracy in work product
  • Utilizes analytical reasoning skills and proactive research methods to assist with and prepare for member interactions
  • Process and resolve members elevated inquiries and issues, such as claims related questions and prescription drug eligibility
  • Reconcile premium payments and eligibility of enrollees with carriers
  • Prioritize and organize work maximizing effectiveness to efficiently meet deadlines
  • Participates in training and educational opportunities for ongoing professional development
  • Maintain regular and prompt attendance in the workplace
  • Carries out other duties as assigned
Requirements/Qualifications
  • QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in business or related field; three years' experience in insurance or employee benefits; or equivalent combination of education and experience Must be able to provide an excellent customer service experience .
