Job Description: 

La Puente is our community’s response to address the effects of poverty by providing a safety net of services, where individuals and families get what they need to stabilize, heal, strengthen, and ultimately thrive. Annually over 11,000 individuals and family members receive at least one of our services, including emergency shelter, nutritious food from one of our 15 pantries, housing with support services, social-emotional learning based youth services, educational gardens, homeless prevention resources, soup kitchen meals, home outreach visits, and more. La Puente’s Community Education and Development programs sustain and support our direct services by helping educate others about the work La Puente does in our community and encouraging others to support our efforts by donating their time, money, or goods.1) Work with the staff to plan regular communications and messaging for supporters including social media platforms

Areas of Responsibility

1) Promote community understanding and awareness of issues related to poverty by helping to coordinate fundraising and mission awareness opportunities and events.

2) Develop high-quality publications to promote the work and impact of La Puente.

3) Develop consistent, high-quality, and effective communication on various platforms including the organization’s website, social media, and crowdfunding platforms.

4) Act as a resource to the community and organization by acquiring a thorough understanding of social justice issues and advocacy platforms related to La Puente’s mission.

5) Build systems and strategies for fund development.

  • Spanish helpful
  • Be 18 years or older (no upper age limit)
  • Hold one of the following citizenship or legal residency statuses: US citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card status), and persons legally residing within a state.

Compensation is determined by Americorps (by county). The range for AmeriCorps VISTA is $13,362 - $20,584 annually. 


Training ,  Living Allowance ,  Housing ,  Childcare assistance if eligible ,  Relocation Allowance ,  Intentional Community Building ,  Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend.
