Job Description: 

Founded in 1985, the mission of Boulder County AIDS Project (BCAP) is to provide support, advocacy, and education to those in our community who are living with or affected by HIV, and to serve as an outreach and information center to prevent the further transmission of HIV. With offices in Boulder and Longmont, BCAP serves Boulder, Broomfield, Gilpin, and Clear Creek counties with a staff of 13 full-time employees stewarding an annual budget of $1.4 million to implement HIV Care Services for people living with HIV and Prevention Services for people at-risk of acquiring HIV and hepatitis C (HCV). Agency operations, messaging, and programming are guided by BCAP’s core values of compassion, inclusivity, person-centeredness, collaboration, and accountability.

Position Summary 

The Prevention Manager oversees BCAP’s HIV and HCV prevention programs and community outreach efforts. This position reports directly to the Executive Director; attends staff, department, and Programs Committee; and represents the agency at community partner meetings. This position is full-time at 40 hours per week, exempt, and located at the Boulder office. Bilingual Spanish and English language skills are highly desired. This position requires evening and weekend hours, and travel throughout BCAP’s service area. The Executive Director reserves the right to assign or delegate duties as necessary.

Areas of Responsibility

Supervisory, Management, and Administration

  • Oversees implementation, evaluation, and reporting of HIV and HCV prevention programs
  • Trains, supervises, develops work plans with, and evaluates department staff, work-study, and volunteers
  • Establishes department annual work plan and calendar of activities and events
  • Oversees messaging and communications for prevention programs
  • Ensures process and outcomes goals are met for prevention programs
  • Responsible for reviewing all department data and its entries into databases
  • Maintains department inventory of supplies
  • Oversees department policies, procedures, and succession plan
  • Participates in departmental strategic planning processes and community assessments
  • Provides department data and narrative for grant proposals as requested by Executive Director
  • Supports the Executive Director in managing agreements and/or contracts with community partners

Speakers Bureau

  • Develops curriculum for and provides HIV and HCV educational presentations to classrooms and other community-based groups

HIV and HCV Counseling, Testing, and Referrals

  • Coordinates HIV and HCV testing coverage at BCAP and offsite locations, provides on-going supervision of test counselors, and ensures quality assurance of testing services

PrEP Services

  • Oversees comprehensive pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) services

Syringe Access

  • Ensures daily coverage for syringe access and weekly street outreach services

Community Outreach

  • Coordinates events, outreach activities, public awareness campaigns, and social media messaging

Atlas

  • Works with Atlas Program Coordinator to develop and help oversee a work plan for the Atlas Prevention Program, including a timeline for program activities
Requirements/Qualifications
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum three years’ work experience in health and human services, preferably with non-profit organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, education, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years’ work experience of supervising professional staff
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in implementing and providing HIV prevention, interventions, and harm reduction services
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs
  • Ability to work at computer for 2-3 hours at a time, manage interruptions, and lift 30 pounds
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • DESIRED QUALITIES:
  • Bilingual Spanish/English language skills
  • Trained in HIV and HCV testing in non-clinical settings
  • Experience conducting street outreach
  • Skilled in volunteer management
  • Experience in event management
  • Experience in social media marketing
Compensation/Benefits
Compensation: 

Status: Full Time / Exempt

Salary: $48,000
