The Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation (Leadership Foundation) delivers high quality programs that educate and inspire a diverse community of civic leaders to engage in issues critical to the region’s success. The Leadership Foundation, an affiliate organization of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce (Chamber), takes a business-led approach to educate and inspire people who want to make a difference as leaders in our community.  Through a portfolio of leadership programs, including Leadership Denver, Access Denver, the Leadership Exchange, Impact Denver, Colorado’s Civic DNA Fellows, the Leadership Alumni Network, and the Colorado Leadership Alliance, the Leadership Foundation seeks to bring leaders from all sectors together to strengthen our region for the future.        


POSITION SUMMARY: This position will curate, facilitate and administer the Leadership Denver and Colorado’s Civic DNA Fellows programs and serve as program/curriculum lead for the Leadership Foundation overall, including other projects as required. In this highly visible role, the director will represent our programs to the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation Board of Directors, committees, alumni and the community at large.




  • Responsible for leadership program planning by identifying high-quality content, using innovative instructional design and consistently pulse-checking to identify opportunities to refine and improve curriculum and pedagogical approach. Tasks include content research and issue identification/prioritization, budget planning, volunteer coordination, program facilitation, marketing, research, participant application/selection processes, speaker coordination, fundraising coordination, logistical planning and program staff oversight for Leadership Denver and Colorado’s Civic DNA Fellows programs.


  • Assess content to ensure needs and lived experience of all participants is respected and that all voices are included. Respect the political and ideological diversity of our community and create an environment where those perspectives are presented and discussed in an equitable manner.


  • Strong facilitation and leadership development skills needed to ensure a successful and engaging learning experience for all participants including identifying learning objectives, introducing speakers, delivering participatory learning exercises, facilitating Q&A, and managing small and large group interactions. Ability to successfully navigate in virtual environments as needed.


  • Active fundraising in support of programs, including recruitment and stewardship of corporate sponsors as well as managing grants and pursuing new grant opportunities where appropriate. Work with the Executive Director to support sponsor communication, tracking and benefit fulfillment related to programs.


  • Consistently gather and analyze feedback from program participants to assess and measure program and community impact. Recommend and implement improvements, address emerging issues, build community connections, and direct program content and experience to keep the Leadership Foundation’s work relevant and impactful in a constantly evolving civic environment.


  • Recruit, coordinate and engage professional coaches and day chairs as a key element of Foundation programming.


  • Ongoing communication with current and prospective program participants, speakers, partners and sponsors.


  • Perform other responsibilities as needed and assigned.




  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the mission of the Leadership Foundation and the dedicated community of alumni and supporters who make this work possible.


  • Five to seven years’ experience in leadership development and training with a strong understanding of leadership theory and application, curriculum development and program design.


  • Demonstrated experience in facilitation/classroom teaching skills. Ability to deliver clear content, assess the needs of the participants, and respond to dynamic experiential learning challenges. Adept at a variety of learning delivery methods.


  • Empathetic leader who brings strong conflict resolution skills that allow differing opinions to flourish while building the trust and confidence of all participants.


  • Confidence in creating programming that reflects the organization’s strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.


  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with success keeping initiatives on track and on budget.


  • Strong communication, relationship-building skills, and customer service skills.

  • Tech savvy with experience managing in a virtual environment.

  • Excellent facilitation, presentation and writing skills across a variety of communication platforms.
  • Understanding of strategic community issues and initiatives as they relate to crafting relevant and compelling programs.
  • Working knowledge and experience securing and negotiating sponsorships. 
  • Project management, including budget development and oversight. 
  • Strategic skills alongside an ability to execute with excellence.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a leader who brings positive energy to the team.  
  • An approachable, active listener who inspires trust and confidence from others.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Ability to supervise project team members and volunteers.


EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:  Computer, scanner, digital camera, projection unit, printers, copier, phone.


WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal business office environment.  Must be able to travel efficiently to off-site meeting locations throughout the Metro Denver area; must also be able to travel out of state as needed. 


This individual will need to work outside the 8-5 pm weekday to staff events.  These off-hour occasions are typically planned and known well in advance.


TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Intensive use of computer.

SALARY: $70,000-$77,000 plus bonus opportunities
