Job Description: 

Recovery Café Longmont is a community of refuge and healing for people in recovery. The Program Manager has a deep understanding of the Café’s vision to be an enlightened community where people in all walks of recovery are empowered to be their best selves and works to nurture and maintain our guiding principles to show respect, practice forgiveness, cultivate compassion, encourage growth, and connect with the divine love in ourselves and others. 

The Program Manager reports to the executive director and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Café including supporting Members, community volunteers, and staff. 

Days and Hours of Operation:  The Café is located in Longmont at 402 Kimbark Street and is open Tuesday-Saturday, noon-4pm. Some classes or activities begin at 11am or end at 5pm.  This is a full-time salaried position; the work week is Tuesday - Saturday. 

 

Areas of Responsibility

Primary Responsibilities:

Café Operations 

  • Embrace and promote the Café’s core values of radical hospitality and loving accountability
  • Communicate and enforce Café guidelines and boundaries with loving accountability
  • Supervise front desk staff and community volunteers
  • Ensure daily delivery/preparation and set-up of meals and coffee/beverage service
  • Ensure the safe handling of all aspects of Café food preparation, consumption, storage and transporting
  • Manage inventory control and ordering of supplies and equipment
  • Ensure the Café remains clean and beautiful: coordinate Members in the clean-up of the meal service counters and tables, dish washing, trash/recycling removal, vacuuming, bathroom stocking and maintenance, sweeping inside and outside of entranceway 
  • Coordinate Members in their contributions toward the running of the Café

Program Operations 

  • Manage Member/volunteer database and program analytics 
  • Manage School for Recovery (classes that address the underlying causes of addiction)
  • Oversee Recovery Café program development and evaluation
  • Facilitate Recovery Circles when necessary (small peer support groups)
  • Coordinate training of other staff, community volunteers, and Members
  • Attend staff trainings and staff meetings
  • Communicate and liase with Recovery Café Network

Member Support

  • Conduct New Member Introduction meetings
  • Assist Members with accessing community resources
  • Write letters for Members for completed service work, recommendations, etc.
  • Advocate for Members
  • Obtain Member input for improving operations
  • Empower Member leaders and create accountability for Member goals

Volunteer Management

  • Recruit, coordinate, orientate and supervise volunteers
  • Ensure there is adequate volunteer support to deliver program services
  • Plan volunteer recognition events
  • Facilitate ongoing communications with volunteers
  • Lead monthly volunteer feedback/check-in sessions

Additional Responsibilities

  • Oversee social media activities and generate content 
  • Contribute content to email and printed newsletters
  • Manage and update website 
  • Perform outreach presentations and represent Recovery Café to the greater community
  • Attend designated committee and community meetings
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications: Must have strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to consistently serve as a motivator, conflict resolver, and de-escalator for Members, community volunteers, and staff
  • Ability to accurately represent Café services and programs to other agencies and Café visitors
  • Ability to work amicably on a diverse staff team with flexibility, creativity and enthusiasm
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills sufficient to communicate effectively with staff and other agencies using G Suite
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Personal understanding of the recovery journey; lived experience highly desirable
  • Ability to embody principles of recovery in daily interactions
  • Strong desire to support people along their recovery journey
  • Capacity to be loving and to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with Café patrons who at times may be very challenging
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Education: College degree with a focus on social services, counseling, psychology, mental health and/or recovery issues preferred. Relevant work experience may substitute.
  • Work Experience: 2-5 years progressively responsible work experience in a position utilizing skills relevant to this position.
  • Additional Desired Qualifications: Previous experience in a social service agency and with populations struggling with addiction and/or mental health concerns
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English
  • Addiction training or education in human services (e.g. chemical dependence)
  • Supervisory experience
  • Drug/alcohol counseling experience
  • If in recovery from alcohol and/or other substances, must be in stable recovery, usually understood as 2 years of sobriety
Compensation/Benefits

Starting Salary Range: $42,000 - $48,000 based on experience.

Benefits are limited to paid time off and holidays.
