The purpose of the Infrastructure and Leader Support (ILS) program is to provide a humane and cohesive set of supports that addresses leaders’ unique capacity, infrastructure, and funding needs. 

The Program Manager will manage organizations and Leaders on the ILS program, assisting them to become fiscally sponsored and set up their core infrastructure. This person must be organized, conscientious, a skilled problem-solver, and enjoy getting to know Leaders to understand their individual needs. 

Through your work, you will have a direct and significant impact on start up nonprofits (especially those led by leaders of color) by enabling them to access funding that would otherwise remain out of reach. In addition, you’ll be joining our team at an exciting time and will play a critical role in growing this program across the US.  

Areas of Responsibility

Infrastructure and Leader Support Program Development

  • Manage critical systems 
    • Maintain the CRM system in the existing project management software. 
    • Use the existing CRM system to track applications, progress, and results of Leaders.
    • Record and track incoming and outgoing grant funding, providing timely reminders for grant reporting. 
    • Maintain a coaching platform to ensure it remains fit for purpose for Leaders on the program. 

Infrastructure and Leader Support Program Execution

  • Execute on all processes related to ILS programming, including:
    • Building warm relationships with Leaders to understand their personal and organizational needs. 
    • Reviewing applications and vetting leaders through a predefined process.
    • Onboarding leaders to the program, taking responsibility for the legal and operational processes to set organizations up for success. 
    • Taking leaders through an offboarding process once they no longer need fiscal sponsorship.
    • Financial reporting (in collaboration with HNC accountants) and passthrough bank account management. 
    • Leading basic financial/HR systems trainings in conjunction with accountants.
    • Administering legal documents (including fiscal sponsorship agreements, sub-grant agreements, etc.).
    • Ensuring the collection of organizations’ financial records in a timely manner for ongoing financial health and end-of-year tax reporting. 
  • Use internal research methods to provide insight on improving program quality
    • Collaborate with the Director of Research and Professional Learning to gather and clean data to be used to improve the quality of the ILS program offering. 
    • Draw insights from the data gathered to suggest and implement program improvements. 

Broadening HNC’s Fiscal Sponsorship Support

  • Implement program improvements to the ILS program 
    • Alongside the Director of Infrastructure and Leader Support, develop and implement creative and forward-looking approaches to supporting diverse community leaders that we might employ in future iterations (beyond fiscal sponsorship).
  • Support fiscal sponsorship program growth goals annually
    • Set goals in collaboration with the Director of Infrastructure and Leader Support.
    • Assist in building and tracking a high quality pipeline of prospective ILS participants. 
    • Assist with expanding the Fiscal Sponsorship offering to all 50 States.

  • Help with odd jobs
    • We’re a small organization and no-one (the ED included) considers themselves above any kind of work. You’ll need to be comfortable occasionally helping - this isn’t an exhaustive list but includes putting together IKEA furniture (aka lego for adults) to grocery runs for Boot Camp to ordering office supplies. 
  • Someone who loves operations & logistics and is driven by a sense of purpose to create a more equitable society.
  • Prior knowledge of fiscal sponsorship practices is NOT required.
  • Someone who can learn quickly and thrive in a self-driven environment.
  • Really well organized and highly skilled in creative problem solving.
  • Loves getting to know people and understanding their needs.

Annual full time salary range $55k-$68k with some flexibility and opportunities for significant performance pay increases.
