The purpose of this fast-moving introductory webinar is to acquaint local organizations to Census data tools and data.census.gov that can assist in their grant writing, reporting, and community outreach through social, economic, housing, and demographic information. By the end of the presentation, participants will be able to access Quick Facts, American Community Survey (ACS) Narrative Profile, and Data Social/Economic Profiles. Participants will receive guidance on proper citation of Census data for grants and reports.

Presenters

Joie Ha is a Partnership Specialist with the U.S. Census Bureau and focuses on outreach to community leaders and organizations in Denver, Colorado. She strives to increase data literacy for the public and show how data can be key in bettering our communities. Joie has a BA in Anthropology and a Masters in Development Practice with a focus on holistic methods of treating mental health for the Vietnamese refugee community in Denver. She has completed development work in Malaysia as a Community Development Officer in Kampung Sungai Suloh, and Cambodia as a researcher regarding how hip-hop can create fictive kin for youth enticed by the familial aspects of gangs. She has strong backgrounds in database management and event planning, and is continually looking for ways to further serve her community.
