Stories From the Frontlines: Food Insecurity

Nationally and across the state, there are many broad discussions about how the pandemic, the current racial reckoning, the political landscape, and the economic downturn are affecting the nonprofit sector, as a whole. Yet, our team at Colorado Nonprofit Association is hearing directly from individuals and the people they work with who are in it every day, and we want to give voice to that experience from those doing the work. As we transition into the autumn of one of the most challenging years we have collectively experienced, we are launching our Stories from the frontlines series. Over the next three months, we will host three sessions of interview-style sessions to hear the stories of the people on the frontlines and the communities they're serving. We will host forums in October focused on early childhood education, November on food insecurity, and December on public health nonprofits. 


Our second session in the series will feature organizations who are serving community members who are experiencing food insecurity. We are bringing several staff of nonprofit organizations from different parts of Colorado to speak on what they and the people they serve are experiencing in their day-to-day life. We will talk about challenges and inspirations, create space to share their stories with one another, and invite audience members to ask questions and share their experience, as well. This will be a brave space to be seen and heard,  appreciated and acknowledged. Join us for Stories on the Frontlines and learn more about the resilience, heart and heartache of people in the struggle in their own words...

Event Description

Ann has been an active member of the Durango community for the last 17 years. She owned and managed the Lost Dog Bar and Lounge in downtown Durango for 11 years. Ann then was an Executive Assistant/Project Manager at Axis Health System before serving as the Director of the La Plata County Humane Society Thrift Store. Originally from Virginia, she possesses a degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Economics from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She brings strong leadership and business savvy to her position at Manna, and enjoys sharing the importance and value of Manna's mission with the community.   










Qualifies for Excellence in Nonprofit Principles and Practices. Completion of a post-training evaluation is required for this training to count toward recognition.
