As more people are expressing hope and optimism about the future, we at Colorado Nonprofit Association acknowledge how much grief and loss was experienced in the past twelve months. We want to hold space for those around us working in the social sector to be with one another, listen to music and poetry, talk with healers, light a candle, share each other's stories or just sit in meditation and take it all in.
Please join us for a mourning vigil the morning of April 21st when we'll come together, lift up voices from our 2020/2021 Colorado Nonprofit Community Memory Altar and acknowledge some of what's been lost and create space for collective healing before we look to the future.
Before you know kindness as the deepest thing inside,
you must know sorrow as the other deepest thing.
You must wake up with sorrow.
You must speak to it till your voice
catches the thread of all sorrows
and you see the size of the cloth.
Then it is only kindness that makes sense anymore,
only kindness that ties your shoes
and sends you out into the day to gaze at bread,
only kindness that raises its head
from the crowd of the world to say
It is I you have been looking for,
and then goes with you everywhere
like a shadow or a friend.
