Event Description

Moderator: Meredith Badler, CBCA

Meredith is thrilled to be at CBCA and making a positive impact through arts & culture and community partnerships. Meredith oversees and coordinates all of CBCA’s programs, including Leadership Arts and alumni activities, Colorado Attorneys for the Arts, monthly cultural events for CBCA members, the annual Business for the Arts Awards and the biennial Economic Activity Study. She also manages CBCA’s social media communications.

Formerly, Meredith worked as a nonprofit strategy consultant at Corona Insights and in patron services for Curious Theatre Company. In her limited free time, she is President of the Smith College Alumnae Club of Colorado and a regional Alumnae Admissions Coordinator for the mountain states. Meredith has also been involved with Cross-Cultured, an multidisciplinary collaboration to increase awareness and participation in the arts for Denver’s young professionals. You can chuckle at her on stage at the Bovine Metropolis Theater and other local venues where she performs long-form improv comedy.


Arpie Chucovich, Denver Art Museum

Arpie Chucovich is the Chief Development Officer at the Denver Art Museum. She joined the museum staff in 2009. She oversees overall fundraising efforts of the museum including major gifts, upper level membership programs, special events, and planned gifts and bequests. She is leading the $175 million campaign of the museum to complete the DAM campus and renovate the North Building.

She holds a master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Colorado, Denver. Prior to joining the DAM and since 1998, she created and implemented strategies to enhance programming, expand fundraising, and build sustainable business models with cultural organizations including the Denver International School, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Denver Film Society. Chucovich led the capital campaigns to expand the building infrastructure for these organizations, bridging her architectural practice into arts and culture administration. Arpie is on the Adjunct Board of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the DAM Contemporaries, a support group of the Denver Art Museum. 

Chrissy Deal, Western States Arts Federation

Chrissy Deal has managed WESTAF’s Multicultural Initiatives since 2013 where she leads the organization's internal inclusiveness efforts and advises public sector and nonprofit arts organizations on how to align their mission with inclusion and equity goals. She is the liaison to WESTAF’s Multicultural Advisory Committee and oversees the annual Emerging Leaders of Color program for arts administrators of color in the western United States. With more than 20 years of nonprofit, education, and philanthropic experience, Chrissy has worked at the Denver Art Museum, the Daniels Fund, and RedLine.

A long-time community volunteer and alumna of Denver’s Circle of Latina Leadership, Chrissy is on the Board of Trustees at the Denver Foundation, where she is a member of the Executive Committee and past chair of the Leadership & Equity committee whose purpose is to advance racial equity by acknowledging and dismantling the historical, systemic and societal context of privilege and oppression. A former vice chair of the SCFD Denver County Cultural Council, she is also a founding member of Denver’s first Latina women’s giving circle, LatinasGive! Chrissy holds a bachelor’s degree in art history from Northwestern University, a master’s degree in nonprofit management from Regis University and lives in North Denver with her husband and two young sons.

Hassan Najjar, Foothills Arts Center

Hassan joined Foothills Art Center as the Executive Director in March 2016 where he strives to create an environment where the arts are appreciated, valued, and utilized to help individuals think critically and creatively about the world around them. As a museum professional with 14 years of experience, he’s leveraged mission-focused thinking and community input to create memorable museum experiences for learners of all ages. He thoroughly enjoys working in a field that is chocked full of creative and passionate people who solve

problems in unique ways through the arts. Hassan is a member of Golden Rotary, serves on the editorial board of Curator: The Museum Journal, and as a board member of the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts. He is currently trying to master child-rearing with his wife Alysia and their new-ish twins as they explore all the art, culture, and outdoor opportunities that Colorado has to offer.

Malik Robinson, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance

Malik Robinson grew up and into his role at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance. After graduating with a Bachelor’s in African Studies from Regis University, he officially began his tenure as Development Director winning national awards for the acclaimed Ensemble. Malik then moved on to Booking Manager increasing the Ensemble’s annual tours to 15 cities nationwide.

Leading with the arts as a force for transformation and peace, he secured and lead tours to Israel and Egypt during times of heightened civil unrest. Before being named Executive Director in 2014, Malik developed and directed evidenced-based after-school programming recognized for positive findings. Malik is active on several arts organization boards and initiatives as well as a member of the Denver Metro Chamber’s Leadership Denver Class of 2015 and a Bonfils Stanton Foundation 2015 Livingston Fellow.

Michael Sattler, Rocky Mountain Arts Association

Qualifies for Excellence in Nonprofit Principles and Practices. Completion of a post-training evaluation is required for this training to count toward recognition.
