BREAKOUT SESSION 1 | 9:15-10:15 AM

Every nonprofit wants a healthy organization, one marked by trust, alignment, and a culture
that can hold weight. But organizational health is a result, not a strategy. It’s built through the
everyday repair work most leaders and teams avoid; naming what’s gone unspoken, rebuilding
trust, restoring the relational capacity accountability depends on. That work is organizational
healing, the practical “how” behind the health people want. Under the sustained pressure of
limited resources, funder demands, staff burnout, and constant change, unaddressed wounds
distort organizational culture, decision-making, and staff wellbeing. This interactive session
names how wounds form, makes room for reflection, and puts one practical tool in your hands
to move toward organizational health.

Presented by Kali Mincy, Bruno Ford Consulting Group LLC

The Heart of Service: Rediscovering Why You Started is a motivational training designed to help
helping professionals reconnect with the purpose that first inspired their work. As burnout,
compassion fatigue, and daily pressures take a toll, this session provides space to reflect and
rediscover meaning. Participants revisit their personal “why,” learn to identify signs of emotional
depletion, and practice renewal strategies such as gratitude, boundaries, and
perspective-taking. A guided grounding exercise helps them clarify what keeps them steady in
service. Attendees leave reenergized, with strengthened resilience and a restored sense of
fulfillment in their calling to serve others.

Presented by Ja-Kay Matheny, J. L. Matheny Solutions, LLC

Risk management isn’t a paperwork exercise — it’s a leadership discipline. Nonprofit leaders
operate in an environment filled with uncertainties – from funding fluctuations and cyber
threats to social media and legal issues – and all have the potential to quickly throw an
organization into chaos. This session will explore the most common threats and potential losses
nonprofits face and provide actionable strategies to prepare for and respond effectively.
Participants will complete a risk assessment and will leave with practical tools to monitor risk,
create contingency plans, and build resilience so their organizations can thrive even in
challenging times

Presented by Dan Prater, Forvis Mazars

BREAKOUT SESSION 2 | 10:30-11:30 AM

Your development team is stretched thin. AI can help—without replacing the human relationships that
drive giving. This session shows fundraisers how to use free AI tools for prospect research, personalized
appeal writing, grant narrative drafting, and donor stewardship communications. Live demonstrations
with nonprofit-specific prompts you can use immediately. We’ll cover the practical mechanics and the
ethical questions: How do you maintain authenticity when AI assists your writing? When should you
disclose AI use to donors? Participants leave with a Fundraising AI Toolkit containing tested prompts,
templates, and an ethical framework for AI-assisted development work.

Presented by Deborah Sherman , AIEZ.ai

This session helps nonprofits better understand and communicate the full cost of delivering their
programs, including infrastructure and administrative support. By shifting the conversation around
overhead, organizations can improve financial transparency, strengthen funder relationships, and
position themselves for more sustainable funding models.

Presented by Aimee Pourciau & Nathan Oberle, Your Part-Time Controller

Now more than ever, it is essential that nonprofit organizations engage in the legislative process to
advance their missions, protect themselves from threats, and raise public awareness for our sector.
Many organizations and nonprofit professionals are considering engaging in advocacy for the first time,
but don’t know where to start. For those new to advocacy, engaging at the state-level is a great place to
jump in – it’s more local and accessible, yet still has a significant impact on the work you and your
organization do. This training provides a general overview of the state’s General Assembly, how laws are
passed, and the tools and techniques needed to engage in the legislative process. Participants will leave
this training understanding the state legislative process, how to monitor legislative activity for
opportunities and threats, and how to work with their organizations to design practical and efficient
strategies to advocate when needed.

Presented by Jack Murphy, Colorado Nonprofit Association

BREAKOUT SESSION 3 | 2:00-3:15 PM

Everyone agrees stories matter. They fuel fundraising, animate social media, and transform newsletters
from updates into invitations. Yet most nonprofit leaders scramble just to keep up, leaving little time to
search for compelling stories. Rebecca Mullen shares a practical framework from The Nonprofit
Storytelling Accelerator so you stop chasing content and start finding stories that inspire. Using Toilet
Equity as a case study, you’ll learn how to spot story moments, ask better questions, and turn everyday
work into narratives that move donors, volunteers, and partners. The stories are already there. You just
need to know where to look.

Presented by Rebecca Mullen, Rebecca Mullen Coaching

The most valuable leadership lessons rarely come from a keynote—they come from conversations with
peers facing similar challenges. In this facilitated executive roundtable, nonprofit CEOs and executive
directors will discuss the real-world challenges of leading through change, uncertainty, and disruption.
Together we’ll examine what’s working, what’s proving difficult, and how resilient leaders help their
organizations adapt while staying true to their mission. Expect an honest, confidential discussion focused
on practical leadership rather than theory.

Presented by Paul Lhevine, Colorado Nonprofit Association
