Greetings, my name is Amber Coté (she/her) and I'm the Director of Education and Service Enterprise for the Association. In this role, I have had the great privilege of supporting individuals and teams who work in the nonprofit workforce for the past six years. I absolutely love the work I get to do with so many thoughtful, inspiring, creative people across Colorado who are saving and changing lives everyday.
However, like so many who experienced times of questioning in 2020, I have been reflecting on how I want to make an impact with my time, energy, talent, experience, and network in the next chapter of my career. I’ve determined that my calling is to serve in the environmental justice movement. Climate change is a threat multiplier, exacerbating health inequities and disproportionately harming the most vulnerable among us. My interest in this field is a lived expression of my dream to build a society that inherently values the health and well-being of all people and the planet we live on
I've worked in the nonprofit sector since 1996 when I started at CASA of the Pikes Peak Region, supervising advocates for kids in court. Since then, I've worked for other health and human services, arts, youth development, and capacity-building organizations. I have found every one of those opportunities rewarding, challenging, and always full of humbling lessons.
Now, I'm so fortunate to take on a new position with a member-organization, Energy Resource Center. In my new role as the Statewide Business Development Manager, I'll be heading up the Carbon Cut Colorado program. In this position, I get to focus on energy equity, environmental justice, green workforce development, and balancing individuals' and businesses' carbon impact.
I am deeply saddened to leave this incredible team who are a second family to me. They are some of the brightest shining stars I have ever had the fortune to walk alongside! I'm confident they are going to continue to surprise and wow y'all with their programs, communications, public policy, and resources! Our statewide nonprofit sector is in good hands with this team. I am overflowing with gratitude for the opportunity I've had to engage with and be utterly awe-struck by so many remarkable humans in my time here.
I leave the Association a changed person, for the better. Thank you for what you do to make your communities thrive for all who call them home. Each of us has something to contribute to the greater good and I'm glad you're out there offering yours up in all the ways!
See you soon...
