How has COVID-19 changed how communities respond to the Census?
COVID-19 has not changed how most households can and should respond to the 2020 Census but it has resulted in the Census Bureau delaying many in-person field operations.
The final response deadline for the Census has been delayed until September 30, 2020. The Census Bureau resumed in-person field operations in Colorado in mid-May and directed field staff to observe social distancing protocols and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Field employees begun dropping off 2020 Census invitation packets at front doors of households in areas that do not receive mail at their homes. In early August, Census enumerators commenced visiting households that have not responded yet.
