About Adam’s Purpose

Adam’s Purpose is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing help, hope, and healing to bereaved Black mothers and mothers of Color and their families following pregnancy and infant loss or the death of a child, adolescent, or adult child. Recognizing that the loss of a child profoundly affects the entire family, we provide support that honors the interconnected healing needs of mothers, fathers and caregivers, surviving siblings, and loved ones.

Through culturally responsive, grief- and trauma-informed, healing-centered care, specialized grief and behavioral health services, peer support, healing circles, education, advocacy, and community partnerships, Adam’s Purpose is expanding equitable access to compassionate, high-quality grief care while reducing disparities experienced by bereaved families.

Contract Term: Initial six (6) month contract with the possibility of renewal based on organizational needs, participant demand, funding availability, performance, credentialing status, and mutual agreement.

Position Summary

Adam’s Purpose is seeking a compassionate, independently licensed therapist to provide specialized grief and behavioral health services for bereaved Black mothers, mothers of Color, and their families. This contractor will deliver evidence-based, culturally responsive, grief- and trauma-informed, healing-centered care through individual, family, and group therapy while supporting the continued development of Adam’s Purpose’s specialized clinical services.

The therapist will utilize SimplePractice for clinical documentation and participate in the organization’s Medicaid and commercial insurance readiness by maintaining high-quality documentation that supports medical necessity, quality care, and reimbursement. 

Essential Responsibilities

Clinical Services 

• Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and establish DSM-5 diagnoses, when clinically appropriate.
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy utilizing evidence-based grief and trauma interventions.
• Deliver grief counseling, trauma treatment, crisis intervention, safety planning, and psychoeducation.
• Administer and interpret appropriate clinical screening and outcome measures.
• Coordinate referrals and collaborate with community providers to ensure continuity of care.
• Support whole-family healing by engaging fathers and caregivers, surviving siblings, and other family members as clinically appropriate. 

Group Facilitation

• Facilitate or co-facilitate Adam’s Purpose support groups and healing programs, including Angel Moms, A Mother’s Mourn, Family Healing Circles, and other grief-focused programming.
• Collaborate with Peer Advocates to provide integrated therapeutic and peer support services. 

Documentation & Electronic Health Record

• Utilize Adam’s Purpose’s SimplePractice electronic health record (EHR) for scheduling, telehealth, treatment planning, progress notes, secure messaging, and clinical documentation.
• Complete documentation accurately and within organizational timelines.
• Maintain participant records in accordance with HIPAA, professional ethics, organizational policies, and payer requirements. 

Insurance Credentialing & Compliance

• Participate in Medicaid and commercial insurance credentialing, enrollment, and recredentialing activities as requested.
• Complete documentation that supports medical necessity and reimbursement.
• Collaborate with Adam’s Purpose and contracted billing partners to resolve documentation questions related to claims or authorizations.
• Participate in quality improvement, chart reviews, and clinical consultation as requested. 

Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with the Executive Director & Founder, Case Manager, Peer Advocates, contracted clinical consultants, and community partners to provide coordinated, participant-centered care. 

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Colorado independent clinical license as an LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist, with eligibility to participate in Medicaid and commercial insurance credentialing through Adam’s Purpose.
• Minimum of two (2) years of post-licensure clinical experience.
• Experience providing grief, trauma, and behavioral health services.
• Commitment to culturally responsive, grief- and trauma-informed, healing-centered care.
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation, communication, and organizational skills. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience serving bereaved Black mothers, mothers of Color, and families impacted by pregnancy and infant loss or the death of a child, adolescent, or adult child.
• Experience facilitating grief support groups.
• Current Colorado Medicaid and/or commercial insurance credentialing.
• Experience with Medicaid documentation and reimbursement requirements.
• Experience utilizing SimplePractice or another behavioral health EHR.
• Experience providing telehealth services.
• Bilingual or multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. 

Physical Requirements

• Ability to provide services in person, virtually, and in occasional community-based settings.
• Ability to travel throughout the Denver Metro area as needed.
• Ability to maintain participant confidentiality and exercise sound clinical judgment.

Background Screening

Selected contractors must successfully complete a criminal background check and verification of professional licensure, education, credentials, and professional liability insurance.
