Job Description: 

Founded in 1985, the mission of Boulder County AIDS Project (BCAP) is to provide support, advocacy, and education to those in our community who are living with or affected by HIV, and to serve as an outreach and information center to prevent the further transmission of HIV. With offices in Boulder and Longmont, BCAP serves Boulder, Broomfield, Gilpin, and Clear Creek counties with a staff of 14 full-time employees stewarding an annual budget of $1.4 million to implement HIV Care Services for people living with HIV and Prevention Services for people at-risk of acquiring HIV and hepatitis C (HCV). Agency operations, messaging, and programming are guided by BCAP’s core values of compassion, inclusivity, person-centeredness, collaboration, and accountability.

Position Summary 

The Atlas Program Coordinator’s main goal is to help reduce HIV and hepatitis C (HCV) transmission in BCAP’s service area by delivering services to men who have sex with men (MSM) and other individuals at risk of acquisition. The primary role of this position will be to coordinate Atlas, an HIV prevention program providing services to MSM. Qualified candidates will need to demonstrate experience with community organizing and/or providing direct services to gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, and all MSM. This position in collaboration with other Prevention Department staff also will conduct HIV and HCV testing, syringe access, street outreach, educational presentations, and outreach education at community events, as well as enter data into databases and complete monthly reports.

This position reports directly to the Prevention Manager; attends staff, department, and Programs Committee meetings; and represents the agency at community partner meetings. This position is full-time at 40 hours per week, non-exempt, and located at the Boulder office. Bilingual Spanish and English language skills are required. This position will require frequent evening and weekend hours, and frequent travel throughout BCAP’s service area.

Areas of Responsibility

Atlas Program Coordination

  • Works with the Prevention Manager to develop a work plan for Atlas, including a timeline for program activities
  • Recruits, trains, engages, and supports Atlas volunteers to reach program goals
  • Holds regular program meetings for input on program activities for MSM
  • Coordinates program activities including workshops, forums, social mixers, and events for MSM
  • Conducts outreach education where MSM congregate or access services
  • Collaborates with community partners to provide HIV awareness and outreach at community events
  • Develops materials to promote Atlas, including social media posts
  • Remains current on HIV statistics, trends, and evidence-based interventions for MSM
  • Collects, analyzes, and uses program data to strategize and develop programming
  • Attends to various administrative duties

HIV and HCV Counseling, Testing, and Referrals (CTR)

  • Provides HIV and HCV testing at BCAP and offsite community partner locations
  • Ensures quality assurance of HIV and HCV CTR services following established requirements

Syringe Access

  • Provides coverage for syringe access services
  • Conducts street outreach

Speakers Bureau

  • Provides HIV and HCV educational presentations to classrooms and community-based groups, as needed
  • Acts as backup to Prevention Manager to provide HIV 101 training at BCAP’s Volunteer Trainings
Requirements/Qualifications
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum two years’ work experience in health and human services, preferably with non-profit organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, education, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Bilingual Spanish/English language skills
  • Experience in providing HIV prevention, interventions, and harm reduction services to MSM
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work at computer for 2-3 hours at a time, manage interruptions, and lift 30 pounds
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Trained in HIV and HCV testing in non-clinical settings
  • Experience conducting street outreach
  • Skilled in volunteer management
  • Experience in event management
Compensation/Benefits
Compensation: 

Status:             Full-time / Non-Exempt

Hourly Rate:     $19.24 - $20.20, plus benefits
