February 25th 2021 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

The Donate to Colorado Nonprofit Fund (ReFUND CO) allows state taxpayers to choose to donate a portion of their tax refunds to a Colorado-based nonprofit organization. This allows the sector to take advantage of a new funding source and strengthen ties with donors. Join this webinar for an overview of the ReFUND CO campaign, timeline, resources, eligibility requirements and more on how to participate. A panel of nonprofit leaders who participated in ReFUND in the past will be available to answer questions about their experience with ReFUND CO.

Event Description

Lydia McCoy serves as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Colorado Nonprofit Association leading, serving and strengthening over 1,800 members within Colorado’s nonprofit community. She is committed to advancing a thriving, inclusive, and influential nonprofit community. Lydia received her BA in Political Science from Tulane University and her Master of Nonprofit Management from Regis University, and currently serves as Adjunct Faculty of the University of Denver’s Nonprofit Leadership Graduate Program. Previous positions include Executive Director of Ray of Hope Cancer Foundation and Executive Director of the Colorado Children’s Immunization Coalition (CCIC).

Susie Simmons is the Development Coordinator at the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado. In this role, she manages the Development Program’s administrative operations and supports the Major Gifts Officers. Before joining the ACLU of Colorado, she worked as a legal advocate assisting people who have experienced domestic violence in protection order and domestic relations cases.

Heather has been a valued member of the Development Department at The Wild Animal Sanctuary for over 4 years. After completing her undergrad at SUNY Oswego, she started as an Animal Care intern at the Sanctuary, but quickly gained traction at the organization with her tenacity and drive to help their mission. Heather’s days are full of fundraising, planning Sanctuary events, writing grants, giving virtual presentations, and being an advocate for the animals. There is never a dull moment, with over 600 rescued large carnivores to garner donations for!

In her free time, Heather enjoys conquering 14ers, snowshoeing, paddle boarding, and has recently taken up landscape photography. While she loves the outdoors and all Colorado has to offer, she is still a Jersey girl at heart and cooks Italian feasts on Sundays.
